The Essentials

Gotta Love that ACV!

Considering the amount of different beauty products on the market and the absolute mountain of promises they make, it’s no surprise that most of us don't understand which products do what, or how to best take care of our skin.  Toner is probably one of the least well understood skin care products, and therefore probably one of the least properly used skin care products. Read on for a quick explanation toners and an effective DIY one to make home.
Gotta Love that ACV!

Happy Wednesday & our first DIY recipe for June!

How many of you use a toner as a part of your daily skincare routine?

How many of you know what it does and/or its benefits?

Today I am going to share why a toner is important and the benefits it has for your skin! I will also share a natural, cost-effective DIY toner recipe that can easily be incorporated into your routine TODAY!

What is the point of using a toner?

A toner is used after facial cleansing and before a moisturizer. A toner’s purpose is to

  • remove excess dirt and traces of oil and makeup,
  • correct and balance the pH of your skin,
  • and help control acne.

A lot of store-bought toners have harsh chemicals (that frankly, I cannot even pronounce) that are NOT what you want to put on your skin and can have adverse effects. Luckily, the natural benefits of apple cider vinegar make it a wonderful ingredient for an all-natural toner that is great for all skin types.

Although ACV is acidic, it helps to regulate the pH balance of the skin. It’s an excellent DIY facial toner and can be used for all skin types. It’s also antibacterial and has anti-inflammatory properties. For oily and acne-prone skin, ACV helps to treat acne and reduce redness. For dry and normal skin, ACV helps to exfoliate skin and reduce wrinkles.

Ingredients for ACV natural face toner:

normal to dry skin

  • 1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 2/3 cup filtered water
  • Add 5 drops each of Lavender and Frankincense essential oils (or your favorite essential oils for the skin)

Oily or acne-prone

  • 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • Add 5 drops each of Lavender and Frankincense essential oils (or your favorite essential oils for the skin)

How to Make It:

  • Combine all ingredients in a glass jar and mix well. Store at room temperature.

Application:

  • Use twice a day, in the morning and at night after washing your face.
  • You can swipe it on with a cotton ball or pad - or pat on with your fingers

If you have not already incorporated a toner into your routine, it will make a huge difference for your skin! This recipe is a VERY cost effective and efficient toner – let us know if you give it a try 😊 Happy June!
